Chile - Algarrobo - Alfonso Del Mar
Our next stop - Chile! The plan - Relax at the beach. Given its unique geography Chile has more Pacific Ocean waterfront than any other country in the world. So, finding the right place to hang out was a little difficult. We wanted a place that wasn´t far from the Capital city of Santiago but also not too built up and touristy. We found Algarrobo on a blogger´s list of Chilean beach towns and after a little research we decided to rent a condo at the beach resort San Alfonso Del Mar.
We were not disappointed. Algarrobo was a local's destination and the resort, although showing its age, was perfect for a few days of relaxing. The water however was pretty cold. January is early summer in Chile but the average temps while we were there were in the high 60s with a breeze. Nevertheless, a few days at the beach was exactly what we needed and except for a few short excursions to the store and a boat ride to see penguins we spent our entire four days playing in the sand more than the water.
